31 week update!

A few things to update on......

First we have a name!!! YEA!!!! Hudson Christopher Goff! This was a difficult decision for us, but his name seems so perfect now!

Secondly we have a date! Hudson will be making his debut on October 4th 2011!!!!!! We are so excited. That means only 8 weeks left!!! YIKES!!!!!!! Lots to do!

Thirdly, I had a less than stellar doctors appointment this week and ask that you all pray for us and me in these final weeks. First of all my doctor confirmed that I indeed have a hernia. Not so fun. This means that in addition to my c-section I will now face hernia repair surgery. The good news is that my doctor is going to try to coordinate with a general surgeon to have them done at the same time, the bad news is that 2 surgeries at once does not sound fun to me. I am electing to do the c-section to avoid what happened last time, however, the way things are shaping up for me I am not sure that I was designed to birth babies!!!
In addition to the hernia news, I am measuring small??? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? Look at the photos below....

Daisy Pregnancy--31 weeks

Hudson Pregnancy--31 WeeksLast Pregnancy I had gained 21lbs at 31 weeks, this pregnancy I have gained 18 so I guess that is the difference???? They have scheduled me for another ultrasound just to double check that everything is okay and take another measurement. Please pray that Hudson is healthy. Daisy was not particularly small--7lbs 5 oz and at our first ultrasound Hudson was measuring a week ahead--so, I am trying not to worry but obviously I am concerned! The ultrasound is scheduled for 1:00pm Aug 18th. The doctor acted like she was not concerned, so I am trying to look at this as another time I get to see, baby Hud before he comes!

Lastly I leave you with some photos of our girl. These were taken at a birthday party last weekend. She LOVES her cupcake icing! I cant believe she will be 3 next month! CRAZY!
PS--we go see the eye doctor again this week and I am hoping we will be done with the eye patch! Its going to be a big couple weeks for the Goff family! (oh and don't forget to watch the video post below)

Daisy Spears

Potty Training

Oh man. So I have been dreading this milestone for a while. Over the past few months Daisy has been showing signs of readiness. Asking to sit on the potty, telling me when she needs to go #2 then walking in the other room and doing it, and stating facts like, "when the diapers are all gone, that is when I will use the big girl potty" So I told Chris we should pick a weekend he was off and I was off the two days before giving us 4 days to work through it. So we did.
This past Thursday we started. Daisy is exactly 8 weeks away from her 3rd birthday, and we are 11 weeks away from baby #2. I really felt like she is old enough, communicates better than most kids her age, and the closer I get to 4o weeks the less likely I am to get on the floor and clean up messes. So off we set. We threw away all the diapers and donned our big girl princess panties and here is how it went.
Day one--lots of accidents. Every time she peed, "mommy I just pee peed". No successes peeing on potty.
Day two--fewer accidents, but no successes on the potty. She started resisting sitting on the potty.
Day three--she definitely is holding it at this point. She had only one accident. The other times she went in her pull up at nap time and bed time. She started throwing a fit saying "I cant" I cant' when she sits on the potty. (yes, even despite stickers and m&m's and prizes)
Day four--today. We went to church and decided to use a pull up so they wouldn't have to clean up a mess. Before she went to nap at 1:30 she was still dry. Again she is holding it. I know she CAN it is just a matter of her being WILLING.
So Chris and I have concluded that even though she met some of the criteria mentioned above the most important one we overlooked......she is not willing and motivated to learn! I am thankful for a strong willed child however, it can be VERY challenging. So all the information says to pack up the potty and the big girl panties and try again in another month or so! So I guess this is our new plan. YIKES. NOT WHAT I WAS HOPING. (and again there is a slight part of me that feels like I have failed--strange how we put so much pressure on ourselves as mom's)

I know that A LOT of you have been totally successful in potty training your child and I would like to say congratulations and well done. However, for me I have learned that not every child fits the mold. Just like we were told to let daisy cry it out at bed time and in 3 days she would stop......(she still cries EVERY night at almost 3 years old). So I raise my flag and surrender round one and remind myself that eventually they all learn to use the potty. I share this story like I have shared many of my motherhood stories (breast feeding, bed time routines, temper fits) just so you know that I AGAIN don't have this mommy thing all figured out!

The Inevitable

Every mom knows this day is coming, but somehow secretly hopes that her child will be the one that wont participate. I seriously thought we were going to miss this wonderful event, however, Daisy chose today, at 2.75 years old to draw on our furniture! AND, on daddy's television speaker box---lets just say we are both in trouble tonight!! :) Yes, I know they make washable crayons, and yes that is what we have in her box, on her princess table where she always colors! Today, she is not feeling 100%, allergy type stuff, she has been so good and while we were at walmart I told her she could pick one of the $1 items out for being so good--she picked a sponge bob color book with 4 crayons. I didn't think twice about it, until now. Oh my!

June?

Can it already be June 23rd??? Where does the time go??? We have been having a wonderful summer. Daisy and I have been spending a lot of time at the pool and pottery barn kids (it is her new favorite). We are excited for Daddy to be starting his 3rd year of residency!!!!! WOW!!!!! We are definitely over the hump (4 years med school, 2 years residency DONE.....only 3 years left!). Chris and I celebrated 8 years of marriage last week!! We are so blessed and thankful for everything that God has given to us! I am so thankful for such a wonderful husband!

Please keep our friends Danielle and Craig and their new baby McKinley in your prayers as McKinley is possibly facing surgery tomorrow (things are going so well she is TOO CUTE!). Tomorrow will be a tough day for everyone! Also our friends the McLaurins as they are facing some health issues and life changes right now. Again, we are so blessed.

We have done a terrible job documenting this pregnancy. Here are some pics taken this past weekend: 24 weeks. Daisy is also showing the baby in her belly.

I have been feeling "LARGE AND IN CHARGE" as Chris likes to put it. When people ask, "when are you due? and I say October they always look at me surprised and say, "oh". But I looked up my photo's from my pregnancy with daisy....here I am at 22 weeks. I don't think I look that much different??? Do you???Here are some funny daisy sayings: Today daisy was asking me if I liked onions. I told her that I used to but with this baby in my belly they make my tummy hurt. She says, When you get the baby out of your belly then you can eat onions again mommy. Seriously---how does she come up with this stuff? Also, she was talking on the phone to uncle Steven the other day and she said, "Oh, I'm Sorry uncle Steven I have another call." She hands me the phone and sure enough Chris was beeping in on the other line! She is so grown up sometimes!

So, most of you know I have really bad pregnancy varicose veins, so I have these lovely compression hose that I am supposed to be wearing......here is daisy putting them on after I washed them one day! Hilarious!We hope everyone is doing well! Yea for 4th of July coming up and Chris being off of work! Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Update!

It has definitely been a crazy couple of weeks. Here is a quick update!

First we had our ultrasound May 19th and ITS A BOY! We can hardly believe it. We are so excited! Pretty much the only thing decided is that his nursery will be guitars and cars, orange, gray, white, and turquoise (the walls are already this color). WE haven't fully decided on a name, but we have lots of time RIGHT????

Everything checked out at the ultrasound. He looks nice and healthy. Funny story. He is measuring a week ahead.--he was 12oz at this ultrasound. I looked back at Daisy's ultrasound and she was measuring 6oz!!!! (her ultrasound was two weeks earlier than this one, but still 6 oz difference is A LOT).

We are excited to have a new addition and I think daisy is warming up to the idea. For a while she told everyone she didn't want either a brother or a sister, then she started telling everyone that she was having a little sister. Finally, this week she has been saying there is a baby boy in my belly! SO CUTE!

Last weekend we went to see Steven graduate pharmacy school. So proud to have a Doctor Mayberry in the family. We then picked daisy up in Joplin on Sunday May 22nd and left around 3:30. The devastating tornado ripped through there around 5:30!!!! We are so blessed to report that everyone in our family is safe! Please continue to pray for Joplin as they rebuild and recover!

I have not taken any pictures of my belly---we are so bad!!! Second child syndrome is already occurring!!! I did happen to get in a few photos from Steven's graduation...here is a pretty good one of my giant self at 20 weeks!

So this coming weekend we are having two baby showers for two of my very best friends from college! So, I have been doing a lot of preparing.....through all this preparing I happened across two items that baby boy Goff could not do without! It is definitely more challenging with boys but then it is easier to justify when you find something cute!

His first pair of shoes! Completely not practical but absolutely necessary!!!!
